Say What?!

For those of you who don't know, I have a bad habit. I smoke. I know all of the warnings, but once you become addicted to cigarettes, it's better than sex (and it lasts longer).

I've tried to quit. Ok, not really, but I did go a few days without. And let me tell ya, I wasn't happy. Now I'm forced to quit. Cigarettes are $5.35 a pack! They are going up again in April. Damn that Marlboro Man!

I refuse to pay that much money to kill myself.

Starting tomorrow (okay, probably MONDAY), I will stop smoking...

cold freakin turkey.

Man, I'm going to be bitchy.

the recent tax hike is SUPPOSED to be the one for April. SUPPOSEDLY they are NOT going up again in April. I work for a distribution center that deals mainly with cigs and this is the news we heard. Apparently, Philip Morris (marlboros) decided they didn't want to wait until April 1st for the Federal Tax Increase, so they did it early...Then RJ Reynolds (camels, ect) and the other smaller ones followed when they found out....we were told this was the result of the Fed. increase and they wern't raising again in April, and were almost positive it wont...but I guess we will wait and see.

But I think you should quit anyways Sam....good luck!

If you can you should, 'cuz I want you around for another 100 years or so!

When we did we got prescriptions for patches that took our cost down to $5 a month...6 week program tapered it down 2 weeks at a time and then you could walk away without killing anyone.

Not that you don't have prime candidates at hand!

Ok so when I first started reading your post, I was envious. I loved smoking and for years thoroughly enjoyed it.

Then I read about you quitting and really felt BAD cuz it sucks.

Feel free to come this way, I've plenty of people you can kill. HAHA.

Happy Friday!

I quit smoking cigarettes after twenty years, about five years ago.

After the thirty-day mark, it becomes much easier, in many senses.

We say quit but in actuality, that is in most cases, it really not quitting it's echanging one hand-to-mouth action for another, which is why people tend to gain weight after they quit, or let's say refrain.

But if we realize the hand-to-mouth phenomenon exists, that is if we're truthful with ourselves, then we can look at it for what it is, and either replace it with a better hand-to-mouth action, say, eating carrots, then that is good. If one is really aware and maintains that awareness, well then, they can replace the action with a completely different action, maybe taking a walk.

I do despise clichés but I'm going to have to say TRY, TRY, TRY AGAIN. I must have tried twenty, thirty, maybe more, until I was actually able to quit. I only replaced it with another action, and that other action wasn't much better, but then I was able to make a reduction of the other action.

And that's all I have to say about that.

I wish you much luck.
